With the success of the Internet Science and Technology Fair , UCF-CECS created a sister program called the Community of Tomorrow. It would challenge student teams to research, design and propose community development projects based on local neighborhood needs. It is similar in design to the ISTF in that students work in interdisciplinary teams while developing basic science inquiry, communication and presentation skills. Further, they use information technology tools and the Internet for doing their research thereby developing important information technology retrieval and management skills need for their continuing education.
On behalf of UCF-CECS, we thank those who supported the first year of our program! We also wish to thank the Partners in Education Offices at school districts that responded to our request to help locate interested high schools for the first year pilot test. Plans are underway this year to open the pilot test to interested high school student teams in Florida.
